Botika ng Bayan launched in Binondo

The Botika ng Bayan, a project of President Arroyo, launched yesterday in Chinatown, Manila its accredited branch of wholesale and retail phamaceutical products to help the people buy cheaper medicines in the area.

Hilda Co Ong, president and general manager of Long Life Distributor Phamaceutical, Inc. said that her firm is the duly designated Botika ng Bayan where they sell medical products – retail or wholesale — under the program of President Arroyo to support the needs of poor families in Chinatown."

She said that all medicines offered for sale in the Botika ng Bayan are duly approved by the Food and Drug Administration with the support of the Department of Health.

During the launching yesterday at Benavidez St., Binondo, actress and TV personality Ms. Lorna Tolentino headed the ribbon- cutting ceremony and was assisted by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Dionisio R. Santiago, Secretary Roberto Pagdanganan of Philippine International Trading Corp. (PITC) and PITC Undersecretary Teddie Elson Rivera.

"It is our objective to help the program of President Arroyo for cheaper medicines so that we applied for registration and accreditation for our pharmacy firm," Ong said, adding that she is offering as much as 50 percent savings on all kind of medicines sold by Botika ng Bayan. (Jen Jorvina)
