The Philippine International Trading Corp. (PITC) said it targets to establish 2,000 Botika ng Bayan (BnB) outlets nationwide by the end of the year.
According to Jose Cortez, PITC vice president for sales and marketing, "The PITC has set up 1,345 BnB outlets selling quality but affordable medicines in different parts of the country. We hope to establish around 2,000 stores by year-end."
Cortez said at least 72 medicines are being sold in different BnB outlets, such as those for asthma, hypertension, and antibiotics.
"There are still 18 other branded medicines that are already in the possession of the PITC awaiting approval from the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) to be sold to the public," he said.
The PITC plans to import P500-milion worth of medicines from Pakistan and India this year for diabetes, asthma, hypertension, and tuberculosis.
